Find it and shine it and wind it always

Hi everyone! I am back from what seems ages! I am sorry to have left you all for a long time! I am back home, trying to resettle for the summer (I always feel like I am visiting home when I come back from school). The last week of school was completely hectic! At the end of the year I always wonder how I have accumulated so many things that I am sure I do not remember bringing to my dorm when I left home. Now that I have unpacked some of my clothes I was able to put this outfit on for today and take advantage of the LA sun that is now shinning--I must say I was a little disappointed at the lack of sun the past week. I bought my Diana plastic camera and was so excited to use it this summer until I realized I packed it with the stuff that is in storage up in norcal, so I will have to wait until  I go back to shoot some photos :(
I hope that now that I have come out of my cave I can come back to my regular posting, visiting everyone's blog and revamping the blog a bit.  So tell me how have you guys' summer been so far?!

Time Loop

I have hardly been around the blogger world! I apologize! Unfortunately I'm still in school with about 3 or 4 more weeks to go--lost track of time! So I've hardly had time to come and say hi to everyone! So sorry! I've also been in the process of slowly going through my stuff so I can pack for the end of this quarter.

I want to share some pictures that my friend Tweety took of me for her photography class :D

Completely Hidden

Hello Everyone! I have been super hidden this whole week, in fact, I shouldn't be writing this post right now. But I wanted to come say hi and apologize for my lack of posts. This week has been so busy I can't believe it's already Thursday! One thing that makes me happy about today is that I'm going to the Fleet Foxes concert!!!!!!
But before I make my victory dance, I have to go through an abominable statistics midterm (blame stats for my absence on the blog!) I hope that after this weekend I can actually catch up on all of your blogs!!!

This is a semi outfit post, since I have been running around, I didn't really take actual outfit shots, and when I actually had some time I realized that I didn't have my camera...so the webcam did the job. So this is me, studying outside--or more like procrastinating.

What I have done:
1.fixed the layout on my tumblr (for those of you who follow me there, check it out)
2. Spent the day studying out in the sun
3. Had an enormous intake of chocolate

Things I need to do:
1.SLEEP
2. Clean my room
3. Study Study Study!

Restless nights

I've been in a kind of stump for the last few days. I honestly just want to sit under the sun, eating pretzels and cheese while listening to Fleet Foxes. Something like that. I can't wait for summer to get here so I can go back home and just relax without having to think about the next meeting or assignment for which I will sacrifice sleep. But in any case I am happy that the sun is shinning brightly!! Love days like this!

I love this soft colored pink dress but I hardly wear it because 1. it's a bit on the short side 2. weather needs to warm up more.

I have also been considering getting a Holga camera, something about taking pictures the old way is calling me right now. And I have been in the mood to start a scrapbook. What better way than to put wonderful pictures.  But until my wallet magically produces money for all the fun projects I have in mind I'm just gonna have to wait.

Where the Sea Meets the Land

The weekend has come and gone like if it was only one day! Because it was Good Friday, we got an extra day in school and although the weather was far from the amazing soft sun of spring days, my friend Mayra and I decided to go to the beach. The simple pleasures of life! I had such an amazing day! It was truly a breath from all the homework that I am currently trying to finish. Not to mention it was amazingly cheap, $5 dollars bus ride to go to Santa Cruz is the perfect excuse to hit the beach more often once the weather warms a bit more!

But on Friday we had amazing coffee, walked around mesmerized and ran through beach waters with tights on..maybe not the most practical thing to do, but oh well!

MIA

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been a little MIA. I honestly have been trying do like 4 billion things at the same time.
But I'm back for today! The weather is back to being darker, not that cold, (although 5 minutes later you see a glimpse of warm beautiful sun. i never get this weather!).
I was thinking of the reason why I started blogging, and I think I could pin it down to being comfortable in my own skin, not so much about how I am perceived, it is more of a self-expression.

This weekend was well spent among friends, lots of laughing and good times; Sunday's Global Village at my school--which is pretty much a celebration of multiculturalism--was really fun (and I got a henna tattoo because I'm tough like that, haha, really though I just think they are beautiful).

I apologize for how I jump from topic to topic, but I am writing this while taking a quick break from all my work
And before I forget, the winner of the Tulle Skirt Giveaway is: Caitlin from Daily Dose of Dress!

A day like today

DSC03134

I am glad to see the sun shinning again, although the forecast shows rain for next week. I honestly can't wait for some true warm sunny days, just to go out and roll on the grass (yes--I do that). But today was a little warmer than other days.
I spent good time in the morning with people that I find truly inspiring and that motivate me to keep doing my best. I am blessed to be given the opportunity to encounter them in my life; they add a little more warmth, a little more humanity to this world.
So to all the people who touch our lives in one way or another, thank you, and may each and everyone of your dreams come true

Settle down with me by the fire of my yearning

So, I have some exciting news! Sunday I bought tickets to go to the FLEET FOXES concert, and I can't tell you how excited I am!!! Anyone else going? So I have been replaying their songs over and over again in preparation for the concert--until May. I have something amazing to look forward to!
The weather here has been hard to predict! I wake up to beautiful sunny mornings, but as soon as I step out I'm hit with a chilly wind. But I am so happy that the sun is shinning brightly.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway

Yellow and Giveaway

Sorry I've been a little MIA in the past few days! I've been trying to stay on top of my work and getting a bit ahead on some readings. But in other topics: I recently bought this yellow dress at target, I just thought it was such a cute thing that I couldn't pass it by!
These pictures are actually from a couple of days ago, when it was still sunny and beautiful. It's been a bit more chilly now, with some dark clouds looming, but I'll share these pictures trying to channel, once again, the beauty of spring days. I'm hoping it doesn't rain today, so I can go back to wearing pretty dresses!

    Spring Romances Me

Saturday was a really different day! I got to work with Habitat for Humanity for my management class. It was such a nice experience! I hope to show some pictures here as soon as I get them! I had such a good time, and came back home with paint of my jeans and an awesome feeling of having done something good.
The only bad thing about this weekend was that I had TONS of reading to do but the weather was soooo nice it makes me want to do something fun! So in an attempt to be both productive and enjoy the sun, I sat outside with all the existentialist reading I had to do for class.
Also, I think I will be doing my first giveaway pretty soon :)

Thank you everyone for the wonderful comments! and welcome to my new follower :) it makes me all fuzzy inside whenever I have a new follower :)

    My Reasons

This post is going to be a bit more personal, I definitely don't want to bore you all with all my writing so I will really really really try to be brief--but I'm not promising.
This year has been full of changes, some good, some bad, some I just don't know what to make of. But I also feel that I have come to a better understanding of who I am and what makes me happy.
I cut my hair again, and although it might be seen as just a different hairstyle, for me it represents much more than that.
I spent all my high school life not really paying attention to my needs, to the things that could make me happy. Not that I was miserable or anything, but there were certain parts of my being I never gave attention to. I always felt a little odd because of my wild curls and my height. Never really did try to embrace it--until now.
So, someone said curly haired people should not cut their hair short because it just doesn't look good--well why not try it, I said? Why should you limit that?

For me, it's liberation. Don't get me wrong I love my curls, but I didn't see why I couldn't try new things with my hair, or why some people said a girl with short hair couldn't be feminine.
And here's to something else I heard, that I looked cute and bubbly with my long hair--and I did, and I liked it. But at this point in my life, maybe I want to feel something different, maybe I just don't want to be scared of embracing who and what I am--and this is my way of expressing it. Because part of my journey of self-exploration is really embracing my feelings, myself. Sounds a bit self-centered, but I think we go on for too long worrying about the world, and maybe we need to start healing the wounds that we have. Maybe it's time to give ourselves as chance.

Thank you all for being with me through the change, and I apologize if this was a bit too much!

    Start Again

    DSC03076

Oh I have so much to say!!!! But I definitely don't want to bore you with my ramblings! Anyways, today is the last day back in college after a rainy spring break back home. I'm happy to come back--but I really don't want to start classes. I took these quick outfit shots early in the morning because I know I have a busy rest of the day.

Over the spring break, as I stuffed myself with delicious food I had my heartbroken--I'm being a drama queen--but three different people (in the same day) told me they could have sworn I wasn't older than 15. That's ok, except I'm turning 20 in May. Height definitely doesn't help--so I have decided on wearing heels more often, hoping that that helps.

Also-I have  been planning to cut my hair AGAIN, I know it's super soon, but my hair grows fast and now I actually have to comb my short hair so it doesn't tangle. This time though I think I want to go shorter--pixie cut style.  Maybe by next week you'll see me with different hair! What do you think?

And how was your spring break? Or the first week of classes if you're back!

    Feeling Mod

    DSC03012

When ModCloth had their Cabin Fever Sale I knew I had to get something! I'm just so in love with their dresses and I took the opportunity to get myself one. I saw the Style Darling Dress and I was about to put it on my shopping cart when I realized they didn't have my size. But I liked the dress too much to let it pass, so I bought it one size bigger, which doesn't make too much of a difference. Besides, I needed my little black dress!

    But I'm the oldest

I'm back home trying to catch on all the sleep I lost during finals week. I am a little upset that LA weather has been far from the sunny days I was expecting. Either way I spent the weekend with my nephew is 11 years old but looks taller (and therefore older) than me. I have yet to show you guys everything I thrifted last time, but for now I'll share a little of my outing with my mom and my nephew and a simple outfit :)
